Briar Rose - First Shipment Has Arrived!

Yes, the long awaited, highly anticipated Briar Rose collection by Heather Ross has arrived! (well, some of it, anyway). We expect the rest to arrive in the next week or so but for now, these lovely darlings are here and just waiting to be made into something.  All at £3.25 per fat quarter, multiples will, as usual, be cut as a continuous piece. We really love this collection. See the bottom of this post to see what we've been busy making with our little sneak-preview fat quarter stacks...

It's thanks to our lovely friend Plain Stitch Deb that we first heard of Heather Ross' new collection.  We were so lucky to get our hands on some of the very first Briar Rose pre-cuts in the UK so naturally had to share the love with Deb.  See Deb's blog to see how she decided to use hers.

Here is a snippet of the amazing quilt top that Jacqui has pieced together - it really is the most beautiful thing - it just sings with the joys of summer! I can't wait to see the finished article.

That's it for now.  We'll keep you posted with more Briar Rose news.  Do let us know what you plan to make with yours.

Staple Dress Pattern Now In Stock

I am a self-confessed Staple Dress addict.  This pattern is such a dream to sew - the ideal first venture into dress making and perfectly named as you can dress it up or down, sew with the drop hem for more drama, lengthen or even shorten to make a top. A true staple of any wardrobe.

We've been aware of the Staple Dress for a while now but I only got round to ordering the PDF pattern from April Rhodes about a month ago.  The PDF instructions are fab but, like all PDF patterns, a bit of a pain to print off and assemble (imagine lots of grumbling whilst getting stuck to long stretches of cellotape).  So imagine our joy when we discovered that April had plans for a paper pattern!

I've made two Staples with pockets and a straight hem.

For my first I chose this gorgeous blue Art Gallery fabric.

For the second, this beautifully soft lawn from Sevenberry was just begging to be 'Stapled'!  I did shirr the middle but added a wrapped belt so it can be worn with ...

 ... or without the belt.

I have a third planned in this amazing midnight floral lawn, again by Sevenberry - this one I think with the dropped hem?

For inspiration, check out Katy's blog as well as Rae's and the others on the Staple Dress blog hop they hosted a few weeks ago.

Here Come The British!

We are so excited to be able to show you the first collection from new UK based (YES - UK BASED!!) textiles design company, Dashwood Studio.

Dashwood's Creative Director, David Sweet certainly knows his stuff, having been Creative Director at P&B Fabrics over in the US but now he's showing us and the rest of the world that we can produce beautiful, contemporary fabric right here in the UK... and why not?  With designers such as Phyllida Coroneo and Wendy Kendall working with Dashwood, we are in for exciting times!

Dashwood's first collection is Enchanted Forest by surface designer Phyllida Coroneo.

Phyllida's colour palettes and bohemian florals are influenced by her love of interiors and fashion styling, photography, culture and the British Landscape.‘The Enchanted Forest’ Collection was inspired by childhood memories of the Somerset Countryside and the magical series of ‘The Faraway Tree’ books by Enid Blyton.

Dashwood have future delights in the shape of Wendy Kendall's Petite Street collection, out in August.

Wendy won the Ideal Home Show Wallpaper of the Year Award with this design. Now Dashwood bring it to life in this vibrant fabric collection. Petite Street will be available at Fabric HQ next month.  We can't wait!

We look forward to what little lovelies Dashwood bring our way next.
